Push the Restart Button

Your laptop is glitching, moving slow, and making it near impossible for you to get anything done.

Your phone is slow moving from app-to-app, you can’t get any work done because you’re stuck pausing between every activity you’re trying to accomplish, you have 74 tabs open and 37 goals you want to achieve. The lag is painful.

So, what do (SHOULD) you do?

You power down.

You push the “restart” button.

You start over with a more clean slate.

You can do the same thing in your writing, coaching, business, etc (or your life in general).

Pushing the “restart” button looks different to a lot of people.

The “restart” button could be:

  • time away from your project
  • time with family
  • exercise
  • meditation
  • sleeping
  • fasting/prayer
  • time alone
  • reading a book
  • binge watching something on Netflix
  • eating a good meal
  • working on another project

What do you do after you “restart”?

I once heard a great acronym to help guide decision-making. Being as I primarily write about basketball, it caught my eye and stuck.

NBA.

Next Best Action.

What is the next best action you can take to improve your situation, refresh, hit restart, handle something difficult, improve yourself, heal, grow, reconcile, fill-in-the blank.

DO THAT.

Whatever it is, do what you need to do to restart, get back on track, and make the next best move.
